Optical imaging techniques in the field of medicine and their applications

In the field of medicine, optical imaging techniques mainly include: optical microscopy imaging, optical refractive imaging, and optical tomography imaging, etc. The basic principle of all these techniques is to utilize the properties of light to create images of the human body's internal structure. 

Among them, optical microscopy imaging is the most fundamental technology. An optical microscope is an instrument that exposes samples to light and then uses optical components such as lenses and prisms to form an image of the illuminated light. Due to the resolution of microscopes reaching the micrometer scale, this technology is widely used for high-resolution imaging of cells, tissues, and other substances. 

Apart from optical microscopes, optical refractive imaging is also a very important technique in the medical field. Optical refractive imaging mainly utilizes the principles of light refraction and scattering in the eye to perform imaging and measurement of the eye. Currently, the common optical refractive imaging devices available on the market include: automatic refraction meters, corneal topography, fundus imaging devices, etc. 

Optical tomography technology is a technique that utilizes the principles of light reflection and refraction to perform high-resolution "slicing" imaging of objects. Optical tomography mainly includes two technologies: optical coherence tomography (OCT) and optical statistical microscopy imaging (OSMI). These technologies not only can accurately image diseased tissues but also can track and monitor the changes in diseased tissues.
